The official website of Miriam Parker

About May 4, 2009

Chances are that if you’ve found this website, you already know who I am, so all that biographical

by Nick Gordon

information that people have to post on sites where people who don’t know them arrive is clearly unnecessary.

So, assuming that you know what I’ve been doing for the past few years, here are some things you may not know about me:

  • In case you were worried that you had the most biblical name ever, never fear, your first name isn’t Miriam and your middle name isn’t Rebecca.
  • In high school, I played the French Horn and held a school record for race walking.
  • I was a vegetarian from when I was 11 until I was 26. Then I moved to the South. Now I eat hamburgers and I am a happier person.

Here’s the official bio in case you need it though: A native of New York, Miriam Parker’s fiction has been published inThe Florida Review, 14 Hills, Wilma! and on BustedHalo.com. Her non-fiction has been published in the anthology 2Do Before I Die, The Brooklyn Rail, The New York Press,, Blacktable.com, Elle.com, and BustedHalo.com. The first chapters of her novel Book People (under the old title Rosenvasser’s Ghost) received an Honorable Mention in the Associated Writing Programs Intro Journals Award competition. She received her B.A. from Columbia University and her M.F.A. from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, where she was the Associate Editor of Ecotone and a Creative Writing instructor. Her background is in website development, project management and grassroots online marketing. She is the Director of Marketing for Little, Brown’s Mystery/Suspense imprint.
